| Labroides Online Flight distance : 9991457 ft Australia Offline | 5 # DAFlys Posted at 12-11 02:19 Instead of new battery, I should have said every time you use a clean SD card. I'm guessing that every time you load a formatted SD card, it's going to start back at DJI_001. If you are leaving images on the card, obviously the file numbering will continue. ANyway, my question is for Mavic 3 users. |

| DAFlys Offline Flight distance : 48191739 ft United Kingdom Offline | 6 # Labroides Posted at 12-11 02:23 Formatting the card will reset the number, but you just pop a file back on to keep the sequence. However swapping the battery as you said has no effect on the numbering. |

| Labroides Online Flight distance : 9991457 ft Australia Offline | 7 # DAFlys Posted at 12-11 02:29 Yes, I know. But as a serious photographer, I change cards every battery and have always done that. Adding a file to each card to keep the numbering sequence isn't going to be viable when you shoot multiple batteries in a day. I'm wondering if the limitation has been changed for the Mavic 3 or if it's stuck with the same lack of choice that other drones using DJI Fly have. |

United Kingdom Offline | 9 # I have just tried two new memory cards in a Mini 2 and the numbering scheme continued unaffected across all the cards. The last photo in the old card was 23, the photos on new card number one started at 24 and ran to 30, I then put the old card back in and the next batch of photos ran from 31 to 37. I then put the second new card into the drone and took some more photos, they were numbered from 38 to 50. |

But my question isn't about the Mini 2 or any of the earlier drones that use the Fly app. I'm specifically asking about the Mavic 3. |

United Kingdom Offline | 14 # Which card was first and were there any images on the second card when you put it into the drone? I see a step from 0002 to 0023 and 0035 is missing and then there is a step from 44 to 103. |

New Zealand Offline | 15 # Labroides Posted at 12-11 13:07 No I have not seen an option for that-where do I look for it? I assumed you wanted to know if it indexed all the photo/video files with different numbers. |

| Labroides Online Flight distance : 9991457 ft Australia Offline | 16 # Suren Posted at 12-11 13:21 I don't have a drone that uses DJI Fly, which has many of the features of DJI Go 4 missing. In the camera options of DJI Go 4, there is an item labelled File Index Mode. It has two options: Reset and Continuous If you set Reset, the camera starts numbering at DJI_001 every time you put a new, formatted card in the drone. If you set Continuous, it will continue the file numbering from the last number used. Before the M3, the Fly app has not given the user a choice and you were stuck with a camera that went back to DJI_001 with every formatted SD card. Here's what that setting looks like in DJI Go 4. |

| Labroides Online Flight distance : 9991457 ft Australia Offline | 18 # Suren Posted at 12-11 18:08 DJI Fly leaves out many of the setting options that are available in DJI Go 4 and it hasn't been there for other drones that use Fly. But I wondered if they might have changed that, since the M3 is aimed at serious users. If you put a formatted SD card in the M3 and shoot a couple of test shots, do they go back to DJI_001. jpg or does the file numbering continue from whatever the last photo number was? |

New Zealand Offline | 19 # Labroides Posted at 12-11 19:09 The file numbering continues from what the last one was saved. I format my card for most of my flights. |

| Labroides Online Flight distance : 9991457 ft Australia Offline | 20 # Suren Posted at 12-11 19:26 It seems off that the M3 would do that when all other DJI Fly drones don't. I wonder if it would do the sames if you put in a card that you'd formatted on the computer. |

United States Offline | 21 # Labroides: I am ready to say that you should now pull the account with your money reserved for the next great drone and just go for it. That way you can know for yourself. I would love to trade stories about M3 usage with you. Share the pain with us please ;-) To answer the question, I see no option in Fly to do that. But I can't remember ever seeing any break in file numbers with the Fly app.

United Kingdom Offline | 25 # Incidentally if the count is resetting at every card change etc. there is a 'simple' solution, put a photo/file on the new card with the same name as the last image or video on the old card. |

| Labroides Online Flight distance : 9991457 ft Australia Offline | 26 # Sean-bumble-bee Posted at 12-13 15:46 That's not a simple solution. When I go flying I take 6 cards all formatted and ready to pop into the drone when I change batteries. I need to images to be in sequence so I can keep track of them. For that to work, I'd have to take a computer and copy the last image from the previous flight, each time I changed batteries. That's not at all practical. The M3 + DJI Fly combination is very poorly conceived for a product aimed at serious and professional flyers. |

| Labroides Online Flight distance : 9991457 ft Australia Offline | 28 # Sean-bumble-bee Posted at 12-13 16:23 I shoot action subjects and I'm not going to waste time tinkering around with my tablet or a computer to copy the last file from the previous flight to an SD card before putting in in the camera to fly again. I need to be able to get back in the air as quickly as possible. It's appalling that DJI think that their sawn-off, entry level app is suitable for serious photography. |
